Hi!
My name is Sara Nelson and I’ve been an amateur and semi-professional photographer for over 30 years. When I was very young and in elementary school I started taking photos of everything to do with people, places and the outdoors. My love for photography comes from my maternal grandfather. As wife, mom and grandma, I’ve always taken photos of my family and friends to tell a story about an event or person/people. I’m a scrap booker, so I’ve always had a camera in my hand, watching the action through the lens. I’m rarely in any family photos!
I have worked for a sports group photography business in the past. I have experience lining up 30+ people for group photos. I also have experience dealing with children from birth through high school. I have two daughters (20 and 24) and I’ve always made sure that they have had at least yearly photos through their lives. My grand-daughter is now 2 years old and she always is in my lens when I have the chance.
My camera is used to capture the artistic elements as well as the feelings of the moment. My goal is to provide you with lasting images that tell a story of your special day. I look forward to meeting you, talking with you about your photography needs and taking photos of you and your family.
Based out of the Southern Maryland area, I travel to areas North, South, East and West. If you aren’t sure if I will travel to you, please let me know your concerns. You can always contact me and I will reply as soon as possible!
I am a wife of a retired US NAVY man. If you would like a photo session at your home and you live on a military base, please let me know. I also love to photograph homecomings of service members. Please contact me and we’ll make your memories last with photos. I’m listed on eStork as a photographer for military families. eStork is a simple program where photographers offer a free newborn photo session for babies that are born while daddy is deployed and unable to return home for the birth. The photos are given, free of charge, to the mother on a CD, in a size suitable for email. She can then email the photos to daddy or we will do it for her from the studio. It is a small way for me to give back to those that give so much for us.
I’m a member of the Professional Photographers of America, Maryland Professional Photographers of America and the Society of Sport and Event Photographers. I have attended a seminar on Bellies and Babies. I attended the Maryland PPA’s annual convention in January 2010.
I’m a member of the Charles County Chamber of Commerce and participate in Chamber events when I am able to. Sara Nelson is Waldorf, Maryland’s only on-location photographer and the only Better Business Bureau accredited portrait photographer in Charles County. I’m a member of Business Networking International (BNI). I attend weekly meetings for BNI.
I’m committed to expanding my knowledge and I’m always taking a course or learning something new in regards to photography. I am a member of the National Association for Photoshop Professionals. I’ve been using Adobe Photoshop since 1992 and my knowledge is always expanding in new ways when I edit photos. Please contact me if you have any questions.
